As the Functional Tester, you are a member of a highly collaborative multi-person Product Development Team which develops new software functionality for our customers.
You will work with team members to design, develop, and test software functionality. You will also interact with other company employees to gather research, confirm requirements, provide training, and perform internal release documentation.

Additionally, you will help with analyzing business challenges from customers as well as work with the
Development Team to develop and prioritize work that will solve those challenges. As a Functional QA Tester, you will be responsible for verifying functional behaviors, reporting defects, and ensuring the resolution of those defects. You will own the process of defining test plans, capturing test cases, and helping drive those plans into testing automation.

Principal Responsibilities

• Drive software quality process to ensure the quality, reliability, and completeness of software
• Provide detailed descriptions of observed defects with detailed reproduction steps
• Identify and document test cases for the software development team based on functional and technical requirements while complying with the organization's test standards.
• Write detailed test plans for multi-component software features, sometimes with minimal or evolving requirements
• Define and document business use cases for new functionality
• Track and communicate the status of multiple software releases in varying stages of development
• Improve quality by contributing proposals that further refine our QA processes and standard of excellence
• Engage stakeholders in different areas of the company to provide information and training specific to product development
• Assist with the preparation of product release notes and documentation
• Maintain a detailed understanding of customer business processes, problems, and desired solutions

Position Requirements

• 1-2 years of hands-on software testing experience required.
• Thorough understanding of web-based software technologies and tools with which to test them
• Comprehension of test management, defect tracking, and requirements management tools such as Quality Center, Microfocus ALM, Spira Test/Team
• Experience with execution of automated testing tools preferred
• Knowledge of standard SDLC and Agile development practices
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple ongoing responsibilities and appropriately communicate issues; Able to manage several projects in various stages of development at once
• Self-starting and creative, thinks outside the box, able to identify edge cases and hard-to-find use cases
• Strong documentation, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Eager to learn, willing to share knowledge, and able to adapt to new processes and workflows
• Knowledge of business sourcing and procurement processes a plus
• Bachelor's degree in tech-related area preferred
• ISTQB Foundation or equivalent certification preferred
